What people are saying about The Self-Manager
Success Journal:
The Self-Manager is by far the most effective "power
tool" that I have ever used in my quest for personal
growth. It is insightful, practical, self-doing and,
best of all, it's quick!
- Richard Fellner, Managing Editor, INVESTools, Inc.
This is a provocative, totally practical and useable
book for examining who you are - who you would like to
be - and how to get there. All the building blocks for
being a productive and self-knowledgeable person are
here. A terrific accomplishment for a book that is so
much fun to do and yet delivers wisdom on every page.
- Pepper Schwartz, Professor,
Department of Sociology, University of Washington
Since I have been on Mark David's Self-Manager
development program, I now see that I had only
scratched the surface of professionalism in my
industry.
- Paul Harris, Dealer Manager,
Cellular One
This week I worked on Life Skill #25, "Adjustments are
the tools for success" (from The Self-Manager Success
Journal).
I feel like many people have been in a "funk" since the
terrorist attacks. People don't feel like "playing the
game" right now. We know this feeling from other
aspects of our lives. In sports, for example, when one
goes through a slump, we project it as if it will never
go away and lose interest in the sport temporarily. The
key word here is "temporarily." The slump will end.
Spirits will rise. So, how should we handle this
temporary set back?
Action Assignment (from The Self-Manager Success
Journal):
Identify one critical adjustment you can make that will
contribute to your overall success this week:
For me, it's all about my goals. I can't reach my goals
if I don't keep a positive attitude. I also cannot
reach my goals if those around me are not successful
and positive as well. Therefore, the thing that I can
do is block out the negative, focus on the positive....
Be positive, share positively, smile, do more than
expected of you. Guess what? It's contagious. The
fastest way to build positive energy around you is to
foster it yourself. Only we are to blame for
under-performance. This is a classic
make-it-or-break-it opportunity. Those that are
positive, professional and strong will make large
strides both personally and professionally, because
even if people don't show it, they sense who the strong
ones are and they will want to be around you and work
with you.
