See It To Achieve It!

It's time to create and
broadcast your vision

It's hard to believe that
2011 is coming to an end. This means it's time to start creating your Vision and plan for 2012. It's time to get ahead of the game and ensure your success!

Let's start off by looking at what today's successful people do when it comes to goal planning. Successful people…

• have clearly-defined,
measurable goals

• have a clear Vision for
achieving their goals

• refine their skills
through consistent
practice and repetition

• review their goals over
and over again

• know how to self-
manage, self-motivate,
self-focus, self-align,
hold themselves
accountable and self-
coach to achieve their next level of performance

Once again, we find that
Success is simple…in
concept. Yet, it takes structure and discipline (which most humans avoid) to achieve your goals. It isn't rocket science, but it takes a
courageous heart to be held accountable to your goals.

Many have heard two key
pieces of advice I share during every training session I lead:

1. Slow Down to Get Ahead
2. No One is Coming

First, you have to slow down in order to be proactive vs. reactive. You have to slow down to think and plan. Every moment you preplan, you save hours upon hours of implementation time. Second, you alone are responsible for the outcomes in your life. No
one is coming to save the
day.

In this issue, I will share
with you proven principles to begin planning your
goals for 2012. I've also
highlighted my Personal
Business Plan
productivity tool. It makes the entire goal planning process easier. In these challenging times, I believe each of us must
provide our own security.
Let me help you eliminate
your stress and anxiety
about your "tomorrow".

Vision is a mental picture of your desired future state filled with vivid 3-D pictures and emotion. You have to see it first to achieve it. Creating a clear Vision is the first step of manifesting the life you desire for yourself and family.

  • Think of the goals you want to achieve for the year. Ask yourself, "Why is it important for me to achieve these goals? How will I feel once I do achieve them?" The answers to these questions produce mental images of your desired future state.
  • Your Vision can provide ENERGY! Creating a Vision is the best way to uncover the true motivation behind every goal you set for yourself. Most people are motivated by their personal goals whether it be to purchase a new home, new car, take a vacation or spend more time with family. Tap into your Vision for the energy and motivation you need to stay on track.
  • Successful people are very conscious of their Vision. They review it daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly. They have a crystal clear picture of where they are going and why it's important to them. They broadcast their Vision to their clients and team members. Great leaders have a crystal clear Vision. It's easy to follow a person who knows exactly where they are going. In addition, clarity breeds confidence and professionalism. It also makes decision making much easier.
  • Sometimes it's difficult to look ahead into the unknown, but you can with a little courage and practice. Just think, if you could waive a magic wand, what would you like to create in your world? Think big! Set your imagination and intuition free while at the same time be realistic!
  • Life is full of changes, and at times you can lose sight of your goals. Your Vision acts as a lighthouse; it becomes a beacon that constantly guides you even when the storms of life cloud your focus.

By creating a Vision, you take control of your life and create an endless source of motivation. This week, create your Vision for 2012. What are you top 5 business and personal goals? Why are these goals important? How will you feel once they are accomplished? Pretend it is year-end 2012 and journal your thoughts and feelings of accomplishment.

Now that you have created your Vision, break it down into milestones or quarterly and monthly goals. Goals are the end-results you are working to attain. Writing down your goals makes them easier to accomplish. The clearer the path the easier it is to get there!

•The larger your goal, the more important it is to break it down into "mini-goals" or milestones. A yearly goal, for example, could be broken down into
quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily, or hourly milestones.

•Create a written plan to hold yourself accountable for each goal you want to accomplish. Create a list of action items that must be accomplished in order
to achieve your goals.

•It's critical to make adjustments along the way to stay on track. Successful people realize the importance of repetition. They know that in order to
stay on track, it is crucial to review, rewrite, and realign goals on a weekly basis.

•Writing down and mapping out your goals creates the focus you need to produce on-target results.

Create a 12 month plan to achieve each goal you outlined in your Vision. Break it down into monthly milestones. Review your progress each month and make any adjustments needed.

•When you set up a measurement system for any goal/project, you increase the odds of getting it done.

•Successful people don't wait for someone else to hold them accountable. They hold themselves accountable for reaching their goals.

•Determine where you are and where you are going. Set a timeline with benchmarks to measure your success.

•Take the time to measure and monitor your progress consistently. Note when you are most productive as well as least productive. Why did you
achieve the results? What behavior led to achievement?

•By measuring your effort and actions, you will be better able to achieve the results you desire.

At the end of each month, measure your results. What did you achieve? What didn't you achieve? Why? What adjustments do you need to make to stay on track? What strength will support your
effort? What area for growth needs to be improved?
