Six Tips on
Maintaining the Magic

1. Set Specific Goals

  1. Take a step back from your original plan for the year. Look out over the next few months. Create specific goals for November, December and January. Confirm these goals with your manager, the business units you support and your clients. Make sure you identify goals that are realistic.
  2. Break these goals into daily milestones.
  3. Review your daily milestones or goals the night before. Go into each day with clear expectations for your desired outcomes.
  4. Confirm that you have the resources you need to get the job done!

2. Be Content

Give each day the best you have! Tap into the giving spirit of the season. Don’t hold back. Put all the energy you can into accomplishing your goals. With that said, leave work feeling good about yourself. Know that you add value to the business world, your company and most of all to your family. Bring that good holiday feeling home every night!

3. Inventory the days you have

Review your company holiday schedule and vacation time. How many vacation days will you be taking over the next few months? Don’t be caught off guard. Know your inventory of days and plan your actions to maximize your outcomes. One way to do this is to create a timeline. Work backwards from your timeline. This activity will show you all the actions you need to take in order to succeed. Time is of the essence!

4. Get Your Holiday Shopping Done Early

Make your list of the loved ones in your life along with gift ideas for each. Remember, it’s not the price of the gift that really makes them smile. It’s the thought and time you invest in making it a special message of love.

5. Brilliant Decision Making is a Must

Use the following formula to make excellent decisions:

  1. Be awake in the present moment of  NOW
  2. Listen to your IVOR ~ internal voice of reasoning
  3. Keep your emotions at bay. Use the S.O.S. (Separation of Space) technique. Separate your emotions from the situation, crisis or issue, give yourself the space you need to objectively see the correct answer with great clarity.

6. Be Present ~ Connect with Your Family

Family time in the holiday season ~ take a moment when you are at home and truly concentrate on how wonderful it is to be surrounded by your family. Feel the peace of knowing that everyone is safe, secure and healthy. Realize your work ethic and the company you work for is the vehicle that provides so much to everyone.
