Perseverance

Anything less is simply not an option.

Definition of Perseverance
Steady, persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

In this newsletter, I’m presenting three simple concepts that will help you persevere in challenging times. It’s a choice… we can fall victim to circumstance or rise to the occasion as a hero! .  Below is a quote from one of my favorite colleagues, John Nassar:

“A recession is a terrible thing to waste.”

Challenging times open the door of opportunity. We have no choice but to perform at our very best by tapping into our imagination.

Be Courageous!
Be Open!

3 Pillars of Perseverance

Maintain 100% Belief in Your Company

Join Hands As a United Team

Be 100% Accountable

Believing is Seeing!
When you place 100% belief in your company, you are able to see more clearly. You are able to see solutions, strategies and opportunities more quickly. With a strong sense of belief, doubt will not cloud your vision. Fear will not cripple your activity. Belief is the starting point of all results. In times like these, belief will carry us through.

Belief
the fuel

Thoughts
the idea
Emotions
brings life to our thoughts
Actions
driven by emotion
Feelings
competence & confidence
Results
the by-product
of belief
Belief
the fuel

Understand that it is the emotion injected into the thought that creates daily miracles.

Teams foster energy and productivity! Every team situation offers an opportunity to create People Power. People Power is when a group of individuals create an idea/solution that would have never existed without collaboration.

Accept the challenge as a team. In times like these, egos must be set aside and professionals must work together to foster creativity and innovation. Now is the time to band together and create a clear vision and path. Now is the time to open the door to looking at business in a different way. I’ve said it many times; challenging economies test our character, belief, skill level, creativity, innovation and will to succeed.

“Draft” for one another. As in cycling, create a draft for your team member. Help the team succeed and the company will succeed. When everyone is on the same page, moving in the same direction, we increase momentum and move farther at a faster rate.

Professionals are spread too thin not to work together toward a common goal.

Accepting responsibility is holding yourself accountable for your successes AND your failures. You alone are responsible for your results. Remember from our last newsletter:
No one is coming! Don’t let your emotions block your objectivity. In times like these, our emotions can get the best of us. Be clear and stay focused.

The 1+4+5
Rule of Focus

At the end of each day, write down your #1 priority to achieve the next day; underneath that, write the next 4 priorities and finally underneath that, write the next 5 priorities. This will focus you each day on what’s most important. If you accomplish all 10 items, then add more at that time. It’s self-motivating knowing that you are accomplishing your most important tasks first. Eliminate your to-do lists or as I call them your “laundry list of anxiety”!

Fix the problem,
not the blame
Don’t wait for someone else to come up with a solution to thrive in challenging times. Don’t pass the blame. Take full responsibility. If it were your company, what would you do?

Accountability increases self-worth which has a direct effect on the health of your company.
