Be Thirsty for Knowledge

No one is coming…

If we flash forward and look back on this time of economic chaos and the huge amount of unpredictable swings in the stock market, I would imagine that it could leave the average person feeling one of two ways:

  1. Stressed out. Stress stems from looking into the past and saying to yourself, "shoulda, coulda, woulda".
  2. Anxious. Anxiety takes over when you look into the future and doubt how you will make it.

No one is coming means we must embrace the challenge of life HEAD ON! We need to accept what is, change what is (or make changes within ourselves), or leave (get out and find a vacant cave to hide in). Now is the time to stand up and be counted. Now is the time to make a positive difference for yourself and the world. I want you to look back at this time in your personal history and be filled with pride. As you see yourself being courageous and a hero to many.

Appreciation & Gratitude
This is one area we can control when everything else seems to be out of our control. We need to be filled with appreciation and gratitude for what we do have. It’s a great time to be alive.

Make Today Count

No one is coming…
3 Techniques to Embrace Challenge

1. Master PONO

PONO is the Hawaiian word meaning balance. When you master PONO, it means you don’t sweat life’s ups and downs. You accept them. Don’t absorb or internalize life’s negativity. Focus on things that realistically add value to your life. When you feel out of balance, go back to the basics and ask yourself, “What do I want? What do I need?” Then create a plan that provides you, your family and your clients with practical solutions and action steps. A simple plan can help you stay balanced. Keep moving forward, every day, one foot in front of the other.

2. Be Psychologically Hardy

Psychologically hardy individuals have three things in common:

  1. They have a strong sense of control
  2. They understand that what they do has value to themselves, their family, their clients and their community.
  3. They take on challenge as a personal test of character. Every challenge presents the opportunity to see how good we really are!

Being physiologically hardy provides you with the stamina you need during challenging times.

3. Master S.O.S.

S.O.S. is a visualization exercise that creates a “Separation of Space” between an intense situation and your emotional behavior. Separate your emotions from a crisis to regain balance and objectivity. Emotions tend to create imbalance. When you feel your emotions on the rise in a given situation, take the following steps.

  1. STOP and take a breath.
  2. Mentally “send out an S.O.S.” by separating your emotional behavior from the situation. (See graphic above).
  3. View the situation objectively and openly.
  4. Choose the appropriate strategy or action step to manage through the situation calmly and confidently.
