Your Home-Based Business: It's All Up to You! (page

2. Patience is the quickest route to achieving your
goals.
I know what you are thinking... what do you mean PATIENCE?
The world is moving so fast, there's no time for patience!
I believe that the truest words ever spoken were when I
heard, "Patience is the quickest route to any goal." I
encourage you, don't PUSH everything you do. Many
situations need time to develop properly. Let time be on
your side, not against you. For example: when purchasing
anything for your business especially larger ticket items,
don't let your emotions take over and say "I want it now!"
You will find by patiently waiting and shopping around you
will be able to get the best vendor at the best price. I
have another challenge for you regarding patience. With
every large decision you make, write it down on a piece of
paper. Put it in your desk drawer and look at it 24-48
hours later. See if it still makes sense for you, your
company and those involved.
3. Be an excellent decision-maker.
Believe it or not, if you make the right decision 51% of
the time you are doing better than most. A lot of people
are so scared of making the wrong decision that they take
twice as long in making a right decision. Prior to every
decision you make, ask yourself, if I make this decision,
what is the best thing that can happen? What is the worst
thing that can happen? Then review the best and the worst
scenario. Find the middle ground. That middle ground
usually represents reality.
Another way to become an excellent decision-maker is to
master the following decision-making process.
- Write the issue down on a piece of paper.
- Create three possible solutions/decisions/options.
- Look at the pros and cons of each.
- How will each outcome affect your company in the
long- and short-term?
- Decide on one solution and act on it.
Remember, most decisions must be made quickly. Listen to
your instincts and be fearless. If you make the wrong
decision, don't beat yourself up. Stay objective and make
the necessary adjustments as quickly as possible.
As a final note, I encourage you to hold yourself
accountable in a ruthless manner. The key to your success
is self-management and self-coaching. That means you have
to uncover reality as quickly as possible. The last thing
you want to have happen is to look back at the end of the
year and realize you ALMOST accomplished your Vision.
Constantly check your actions. Ask yourself, are my daily
activities in alignment with my Vision? Will these
activities move me toward my Vision in the most efficient
manner possible? What ever you do, don't procrastinate
here. Look in the mirror of reality and compare your
ACTIONS to your WORDS/VISION. If your actions are in
alignment, then keep going. If they aren't, simply make the
needed adjustments. Adjustments only get tougher as time
goes by. Make the necessary changes you need to keep your
home-based business as successful and healthy as it can be.
